|After the Turkish invasion of 1974, the Government of Cyprus founded the Refugee Relief Fund to support the victims of the invasion. For this reason it decided on 12 September 1974 to impose an additional postal duty on every article sent by post for which postage is collected. This special duty is known as "Refugee stamp".|
The fifth refugee stamp is a variation of the design of the 4th refugee stamp. It is reprinted on a light grey background, it shows the new release year (1988) and in the background the year of the Turkish invasion (1974).
