|The seventh international maritime and shipping conference which is to take place in Nicosia from 11th to 13th November 1992 is to be organized by the Institute of Marine Engineers which has its Headquarters in London in association with the International Centre for Shipping, Trade and Finance for the City University Business School.|
The next decade may see major changes to the structure of seaborne trade and the replacement of ageing world fleet that will require enormous funds. Financial institutions are becoming far more selective in their lending, new legislation is being introduced to reflect worldwide concern for the protection of the environment and the evolution of new technologies will present opportunities for the more effective management of commercial ships. IMAS 92 will address the challenges facing all concerned with the future transportation of goods and material by sea and identify the need to adopt global approach to a technical, financial and legal issues that have to be faced.
His Excellency, Mr George Vassiliou, President of the Republic of Cyprus, will open the conference and Mr George Livanos, Consultant to the Ceres Hellenic Shipping Enterprises Limited, will give the Keynote Address. Subjects to be discussed will include:
