Commemorative Issue

Norwegian Art IV

If anyone were to criticise Norwegian sculptors for being provincial, this would not apply to Per Palle Storm (1910-94). He was a cosmopolitan: born in Copenhagen, grew up in South America and studied in Germany, Spain, France and Italy.

He entered the National Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo in 1930 and before long he was making his mark among Norway

This statue of a man drinking, sculpted in bronze by Per Palle Storm, was completed in 1958.

There are two copies of the statue, one at Kronprinsesse Marthas plass in Oslo and one at the upper secondary school in Horten.
