Fire Engines

Cyprus
This issue presents three types of vehicles used in the fire fighting and rescue operations of the Cyprus Fire Service. They present fire engines for urban and countryside operations as well as a ladder.

  A BEDFORD vehicle, with a 6000cm3 engine, bought and registered in the name of the Cyprus Fire Service on 13/06/1997. It has a tank with a capacity of 6 tons and a pump supplying 500 litres per minute. It is used for water transport and to extinguish fires in the countryside.

  A HINO vehicle with a 9419cm3 engine bought and registered in the name of the Cyprus Fire Service on 13/12/1994. It has a tank with a capacity of 2 tonnes and a pump supplyijng 500 litres per minute. It is used for water trasnport and to extinguish fires in urban areas.

  A BEDFORD vehicle, MERRY WEATHER, with a 4927 cm3 engine, bought and registered in the name of the Cyprus Fire Service on 11/3/1959. It was used as a bridge, a water jetting tower to extinguish fires and also for rescues as an external ladder for high buildings with a maximum extension of 30 metres.
