|One hundrer years (1914-2014) passed since the establishment of the Jounalists' Union of Athens Daily Newspapers (ESIEA), which was founded under difficult circumstances for the country, aiming at the promotion of Press freedom and the safeguarding of journalism as a profession. This anniversary was a chance for EDIEA to present, for the first time, unknown documentary from its archives and works from its gallery: portraits of journalists-scholars, the works of whom were primarily published in newspapers and magazines. Eight of those personalities are presented in the Hellenic Post collectors' series of stamps.
The anniversary of 100 years finds ESIEA in the middle of a crisis affecting the Media too, as it has to address new perspectives and challenges for the profession and the future of journalistic genre. ESIEA however, is optimistic that with the contribution of all employees in the Media, it will manage to cope.
